Home of a 65-foot waterfall and a historic grist mill — day-use hiking, picnicking, and fishing on the Chunky River.
Dunn's Falls
Reservation info
Dunn's Falls is nestled in the hills along the Chunky River in south Lauderdale County, near Enterprise. Its centerpiece is a 65-foot waterfall — created in the mid-1850s by Irish immigrant John Dunn — which still powers the park's iconic water wheel.
Beside the falls stands an 1857 grist mill, relocated to the park from Georgia in 1987, and a mill pond stocked with catfish where visitors can fish with a permit. Nature trails wind through the surrounding forest, and the river offers fishing, canoeing, and swimming.
Unlike the district's camping parks, Dunn's Falls is primarily a day-use destination — open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 AM to 5 PM — though primitive campsites and a single cabin are available for overnight stays.
Dunn's Falls is primarily a day-use park built around a 65-foot waterfall and a historic grist mill, with primitive camping and one cabin available for overnight stays. The mill pond is stocked with catfish — a fishing permit is required, and caught catfish are charged by the pound.
